Coaching educators

to increase their efficacy is not new. Teachers and principals are two groups of educators who have traditionally experienced the benefits of coaching, particularly in the the U.S. In Australia, Victoria is rapidly establishing a widespread network of Teaching and Learning coaches to work with teachers to improve instructional practice. At the same time, a number of school principals are working with leadership coaches to help them develop their capacity to lead their schools successfully.

Coaching programs for school leaders operate through a series of conversations designed to allow principals to reflect on the challenges and possibilities presented to them by their schools, their own personal approaches to the demands of leadership, the options available to them and the steps and strategies which may help them realise their vision.

A good leadership coach will help principals see possibilities, consider other points of view, expand their repertoire of operation, build their capacities in multiple domains of leadership,
